Alta & Eva
The content is a series of letters written by Eva Madros to Alta Phillips in the 1950’s. The letters share the story of daily life in a small village in Alaska.
problem & research
After finding the contents for Alta & Eva, research involved reviewing other books which contain collections of letters, letters on display, as well as using an empathy map that would help give an idea of the readers of the book. This process helped direct the look and feel of the book.
The solution required finding a way to present the story without distracting from the letters. The strategy was to develop a clean layout for the book that did not compete with the images and content, as well as using Lyon as a typeface to for it's easy readability.
